課程概述

Electrochemical measurements are powerful tools widely used in energy and bio related industries. For most of the cases, what we do is to control variables such as the potential or current and then measure the response of the system, or study the relationship between the potential and current. The measured responses contain information of the thermodynamics, kinetics, or transport properties pertaining to the system. These properties are necessary for the fundamental understanding of physical processes such as energy conversion, energy storage, or cell metabolism. These insights can facilitate the improvement of energy conversion efficiency, sensor accuracy, and device durability. 

課程目標
A powerful instrument, Autolab, is developed to effectively and accurately undertake various electrochemical measurements. The accompanying software, NOVA, is designed to flexibly accommodate broad spectrum of experimental needs. That is, one can design the electrochemical measurements in desired sequence and parameter spaces. This laboratory session aims to familiarize students with some fundamental electrochemical concepts, as well as to enable students with ability of basic operations of Autolab and NOVA. In addition, fundamental knowledge concerning rechargeable batteries is also briefly discussed. 
課程要求
Turn in the laboratory reports of four hands-on sessions a week after the 2 classes of experiments are completed. Late report within a week will be subjected to point deduction. Late report over a week will not be accepted.
